Description: Half Dome is the icon of Yosemite National Park, and the subject of a number of Ansel Adams' most well known photographs. Unusually for Ansel with respect to Half Dome, this image was made in the horizontal, and by filling the frame creates a very specific portrait of the granite edifice. This image was made from the proximity of Mirror Lake in Yosemite Valley, looking up with a long lens. Ansel chose this image for Portfolio V, and is generally available as an original only in that 16x20 size. It is quite dramatic in that size and larger, now available with the Archival Replica format.

Each Archival Replica is individually produced and inspected, and matched to a master proof. It is “T” hinge mounted to an acid-free backer and overmatted with 8-ply museum rag board. The image and paper is estimated to resist fading or deterioration for over 180 years. The overmat, custom selected and cut to the image, has a generous border to create a powerful effect.
