Charles Cramer and Ansel Adams have much in common. Both have called Central California home. Early in their career arc, both pursued music as a profession only to eventually be lured away by the artistic promise of photography. And both have fully embraced the landscape as a muse – especially those Sierra Nevada Mountains found in their relative backyard.

In his own time, Mr. Cramer has continued to photograph the West, and what has resulted is a body of work decades in the making. This winter, The Ansel Adams Gallery celebrates Mr. Cramer’s dedication to the landscape, to a life chasing the light, as well as commemorating his 40 years exhibiting in Yosemite National Park — beginning with his first show at the Valley Visitor Center in 1979.

Featuring work made almost exclusively within the park, plus a few favorites from farther afield, ’40 Years in Yosemite: A Retrospective of Charles Cramer’ will open at The Ansel Adams Gallery on November 22nd, 2020 and run through January 11th, 2021.
