About this Photograph - Sierra Nevada, Winter Evening The Sierra Nevada provide a beautiful and dramatic western boundary of the Great Basin desert. This transition is rarely captured, usually the escarpment of the Sierra dominate the artist’s image. This image, from later in Adams career, places much more emphasis on the subtlety and serenity of the desert landscape.
